It’s so hard to believe that we just had our very last summer weekend of 2018! In less than a week, it will officially be fall… even though it feels far from that in Palm Springs. It is still well over 100 degrees during the day, but I’m thankful that we at least get cooler mornings and nights now. As I continue to transition my wardrobe for the new season, I’ve been adding a lot of olive green pieces. It’s such a staple color to wear during the cooler months! If you adore all things olive like me, you’ll LOVE my favorite picks in this shade for autumn 🙂

This time last year, I started using the Double Serum by Clarins and instantly fell in love! I am excited to share that after a year of consistent use, I still love it as much as I did on day one. If you haven’t had the chance to try it yet, this holy grail is a two-in-one serum infused with turmeric extract and 20 other skin-loving plant ingredients. Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory and soothing properties make it beneficial for the body both inside and out. Needless to say, Double Serum is one of the best treats I’ve given my skin in my 20’s, and I know I’ll be using #MyDoubleSerum, my skincare hero, for many years to come.

My most recent thrifting trip to Angel View in Palm Desert on Highway 111, again, did not disappoint. I practically thrifted this entire outfit for under $25! The only thing not thrifted were the boots, which I’ve had for a while now. Can you believe it?! The thrifting scene is at least 10x better than the shopping scene out here in the Coachella Valley. I can’t believe it took me a year to get into it. I am so late – but better late than never, right?
Have you ever thought about painting your nails to accentuate your summer glow or bring out a bit of color in your complexion? It might sound a little random, but totally works! When you create a contrast between your skin color and the nail polish, you can instantly go from pale to sun-kissed in a matter of minutes. Just about any shade lighter than your skin tone will give a bronzed boost, but specifically there are 3 kinds of nail polishes that I can’t be without when I want to enhance my tan! I have rounded up my favorite glow-getting polishes so you can finish off summer in style 😉
If there was one makeup style I had to wear for the rest of my life, it would be the good ol’ smokey eye. As much as I’m all for embracing natural beauty, the “no makeup-makeup look” is a bit plain on me. If you haven’t noticed, I’m wearing a smokey eye in almost all my photos. I feel like it really helps to not only bring out my eyes, but the rest of my facial features too. Some may call me high-maintenance for putting on a smokey eye every time I do my makeup. However, after years of practice, I’ve definitely picked up on techniques to perfect that everyday smokey eye efficiently. If you’re looking to master a classic smokey eye in time for the fall and winter months, it’s time to stock up on some staple eye products and follow these 5 simple steps!
As we inch closer to September, it’s time to reorganize our closets and stow away some summer styles to make room for our beloved fall pieces. I must say that transitioning from one season to the next is not a totally big deal for most Californians, especially for desert dwellers like myself. Honestly, I wear summer clothing probably 90% of the time throughout the year because the average December temperature in Palm Springs is still a pretty comfortable 70 degrees. I do get cold easily though – so there’s that… anything below 75 calls for having layers on hand and ready to wear. Have you begun your wardrobe refresh in time for fall yet? Tackle the warm days & chilly nights with these 5 summer-to-fall staples that will ensure a seamless transition into the new season!
It’s crazy that we’re practically in the middle of August already – which means that summer is almost over. Is it just me though, or does it feel like this summer is never-ending? To be honest, I am looking forward to cooler temperatures. Summer is usually my favorite season because of the warmth and longer days, but the heat is a bit too extreme in the desert for me to fully enjoy it. The AC in one of our cars decided to go out the other day when we drove out 3o minutes to shoot some looks, and the ride back in 118 degree weather with no AC was absolutely brutal. I felt like I was going to faint by the time we got home! On top of hydrating, keeping as cool as possible outside is so important when it’s hot. Lately, I have been beating the heat with crop tops. They are easy to wear, and super cute with high-waisted bottoms!
After finding a plethora of awesome little knick-knacks for our home at local thrift stores, I felt inspired to peruse through the clothing racks one day! Buying second-hand clothing was never really my thing, but I quickly learned that you can score worthwhile and even vintage styles at great prices if you look carefully. Sometimes, they’re new too! As you know with thrifting, it’s all about timing and luck. Since I’m pretty new to this, my list of “best thrift stores to find cool clothes” is still in the making. Hopefully in a few months, I’ll be able to share a list of my favorites in the Coachella Valley for you guys to check out! In the mean time, I’ve started a new series called “Thrift Finds” under “Fashion” on here to document my thrift finds. I hope you’ll follow along & enjoy the thrill of the thrift with me 😉
In April, I wrote a blog post recapping my first year living in Palm Springs. I also did an “ask me anything” on Instagram stories not too long ago, and it seems like many of you are intrigued by what my life is like out here in the desert. So, I’ve decided to start a new “Palm Springs” category under “Lifestyle,” where I’ll be sharing fun tidbits about Palm Springs living you won’t want to miss out on! If you are planning to visit Palm Springs or simply curious about what my life is like here, visit this category often for updates 🙂 Since a few of you asked about hotels in the area, I’m starting this series with 10 photogenic hotels in Greater Palm Springs that are worth checking out – or potentially staying at, if you’re in town for more than just a day!
With temperatures soaring to 120 degrees in Palm Springs, the retro dolphin shorts trend from the 80’s has definitely made a comeback in my closet. I remember wearing these shorts often growing up – they were easy to wear, comfortable, and ideal for both lounging around at home and casually running errands outside. Those of you who know me may know that I have a hard time turning down short-shorts & short skirts, because of how extra long and slim they make my legs look! Even for a relatively tall Asian girl, I’ll happily take all the height I can get. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?
Originally a hit in Korea, lip tints have become widespread and popular in the United States over the years – for a multitude reasons. In my younger years of wearing makeup, I loved traditional lip gloss – no matter how sticky it was. Somehow, I was just obsessed with how the gloss looked on my lips, as it gave a much fuller appearance. As I got older, I couldn’t be bothered by my hair getting stuck in the gloss or just feeling sticky all the time. Lipsticks are often drying to my lips, so I’ve always steered clear from those whenever possible. I also didn’t like how the color would often transfer onto my teeth. Once I was introduced to lip tints, my whole lip game changed!
