In April, I wrote a blog post recapping my first year living in Palm Springs. I also did an “ask me anything” on Instagram stories not too long ago, and it seems like many of you are intrigued by what my life is like out here in the desert. So, I’ve decided to start a new “Palm Springs” category under “Lifestyle,” where I’ll be sharing fun tidbits about Palm Springs living you won’t want to miss out on! If you are planning to visit Palm Springs or simply curious about what my life is like here, visit this category often for updates 🙂 Since a few of you asked about hotels in the area, I’m starting this series with 10 photogenic hotels in Greater Palm Springs that are worth checking out – or potentially staying at, if you’re in town for more than just a day!
***Special thanks to Steamline Luggage for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.***
If you’ve been following along on my Instagram stories for the past month or so, you’ll have seen that we’ve been working hard on decorating our rustic-vintage guest bedroom (inspired by the Airbnb we stayed at in New York recently). We’ve been doing plenty of local thrifting to score unique finds, but ultimately, I think my Steamline Luggage completes the vintage vibe of the room. Who doesn’t love luggage that’s not only visually appealing, but also fun to take along on trips? David & I had our 4 year anniversary last week, but we’ll be celebrating later this month somewhere cooler to escape this desert heat. Cannot wait to travel in style with my new babies!
Packing light has always been a bit of a struggle for me, especially when headed somewhere cold. Winter clothing is much bulkier than the clothes I’m used to wearing out in the desert. This restricts me from bringing a whole lot. On my recent trip to New York City, my luggage was pretty stuffed with thick jackets & sweaters, so there wasn’t much room left for other accessories. In fact, I was only able to bring one bag. Can you guess what it was? A miniature backpack! It was my best travel companion (aside from David of course). Together, we explored the city and hiked in the suburbs.
Just a little over a week ago, David and I had our first ever Airbnb experience together. For past travels, we’ve either just stayed at a hotel or crashed at a friend or family member’s house. We had such a great time, and expectations were more than met. At the last minute, we decided we wanted to go to NYC before the Palm Springs airport stopped doing direct flights to New York in the summer. Unfortunately, hotel prices were already going up. I didn’t want to settle for a mediocre or less-than-mediocre hotel, so I resorted to browsing through Airbnb listings. Best decision ever — since I was able to find the cutest little abode for our 4-night stay without breaking the bank!
It’s hard to believe that I’ll be headed off to New York in just a few days! I’m excited to start traveling again but will definitely miss the warm weather in Palm Springs. As you might imagine, I don’t really have much in my closet that’ll allow me to survive in frigid temperatures. For the past month, I’ve been frantically shopping for an all-new wardrobe just for this trip. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck finding winter weather clothing because stores here have already moved on to their Spring collections. At this point, I figure worst comes to worst, I’ll pick up what I need when I get there… but the anxiety of not being fully prepared sucks. But hey, an excuse to go shopping in New York, right? 😉
You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit MIA here on the blog in the past week or so. Today, I am excited to share that Style Lullaby has an all new look! While working hard behind the scenes to make this face lift come to life, David & I have also been diligently creating a lot of new content. I can hardly wait to share it with you!
