Why Every Traveler Should Own a Miniature Backpack

Packing light has always been a bit of a struggle for me, especially when headed somewhere cold. Winter clothing is much bulkier than the clothes I’m used to wearing out in the desert. This restricts me from bringing a whole lot. On my recent trip to New York City, my luggage was pretty stuffed with thick jackets & sweaters, so there wasn’t much room left for other accessories. In fact, I was only able to bring one bag. Can you guess what it was? A miniature backpack! It was my best travel companion (aside from David of course). Together, we explored the city and hiked in the suburbs.

Β Β I don’t know why I hadn’t invested in a mini backpack sooner, but now I can’t live without it! For long days out exploring, it’s nice being able to evenly distribute the weight of bag contents onto the body. The last thing I wanted was to walk miles in the city with sore feet, and on top of that, have bag straps dig into and strain my shoulders. The compact size really encouraged me to pack wisely for each day of adventuring around NYC. I channeled my inner minimalist and kept my bag light with just the simple necessities I would need for the day. The extra compartments are a nice addition, which allowed me to better organize my essentials.

My mini backpack is from a boutique designer I recently discovered, calledΒ SUSU Handbags. I cannot get over how much I love this beauty! The rich Italian leather coupled with the gold hardware exudes a luxurious feel. To top it off, the straps are adjustable and interchangeable, which means you can style the backpack in a plethora of ways. Depending on the look you’re going for, this bag can be worn as a backpack of course, and also as a crossbody, shoulder bag, and a cute little handbag. There’s nothing better than being able to easily make every outfit look different with just one bag… especially when it’s the only one you packed for your trip!

What’s your favorite bag to travel with?

    1. Thank you so much beautiful! I love this backpack and will definitely be traveling more places with her πŸ˜‰ lol I used to travel with a tote but felt that I’d bring more things than I needed to, which then would make long days of adventure not the most comfortable haha

  1. YES! A miniature backpack is a must for me when I travel too. Just so much easier to carry things around while knowing everything is secure. Love the one you styled as well as all your other backpack picks!

  3. This one is so cute! I love your travel outfit! For some reason, I haven’t really traveled with a small backpack either. I definitely could use one to organise all the stuff I lug around. I usually give it all to my partner to carry in his backpack!

    1. Thank you Jenelle! Yes, a small backpack is great for organizing everyday essentials without feeling weighed down haha. Definitely recommend getting one if you travel a lot. My bf was so glad I didn’t just stuff everything in his bag LOL!

  8. Cute look. I love the mini backpack. I’v’e had a vibrant blue velvet one for over a year and I never even wore it once! lol I keep forgetting I have it. I don’t use backpacks much because I like to be able to see my bag in front of me, but want to get a cute new one to use on my trips. I love the look and want to get a new one though. These are such great options. So hard to choose!

    1. Omg velvet blue sounds amazing! You do make a good point though, sometimes on travels I do get paranoid about whether or not it’s safe to have my stuff on my back. Perhaps a fanny pack might be a better choice for places that aren’t as safe. Luckily with this backpack, I’m also able to wear it as a shoulder bag so I could keep it in front of me too πŸ™‚

  9. I totally agree – sometimes carrying around a regular-sized backpack when you don’t have too much you need to carry is a bit much sometimes. A mini backpack is perfect, and I’ve realized there are so many chic designs out there to mix up with your own individual style. Your choices are perfect, I can’t wait to go shopping for my own πŸ™‚
