Two weeks ago, it got cold enough for the mountains of Idyllwild to be completely covered in snow! I know that this might not sound like a big deal for some of you… but when you’re living somewhere where the temperatures typically don’t dip below 65 degrees out during the day, I’d say that snowfall is quite a treat! Believe it or not, this snowy retreat is just a little over an hour away from where we live in sunny Palm Springs. David and I took a day trip up to Idyllwild with the dogs and it was Rolly’s first time experiencing snow. It was pure delight!
No snow day is complete without dressing up the dogs appropriately (and warmly), right? Petco had 50% off all their Star Wars attire, which worked out nicely in my favor. I have been told that Rolly looks like Yoda, so I just had to get him a Yoda sweater! S’mores got a fleece-lined Chewbacca sweater but that didn’t convince him to love the snow. He hates getting wet, so he spent the day avoiding it at all costs. Surprisingly though, Rolly seemed to really enjoy his time despite freezing. While S’mores would try to stay put in the least snowy parts of ground, his baby brother would prance around freely in the snow without a care in the world. Oh, the life of a cute little puppy… 🙂
As far as my own outfit goes, I was beyond stoked to FINALLY have the opportunity to wear this soft purple fur coat that I bought months ago after seeing my friend Miki of fashion & travel blog, Miki à la Mode rock it. It’s not exactly the most practical piece to have in a desert dweller’s wardrobe, but I loved the color too much to not buy it. Totally not complaining because I love the warmth here — but it never gets cold enough for me to wear this coat without looking flat-out ridiculous. Nonetheless, it’s a chic statement piece that pairs beautifully with a cozy sweater underneath, leggings, vinyl boots, and a warm knit beanie for the right occasion.
Speaking of the cold and snow, I officially booked a flight to NYC to visit some friends next month! This means you’ll be seeing me in this coat more often. I’ll be staying in Brooklyn this time 🙂 My last trip to New York was two winters ago; I stayed in Manhattan and only got to see Times Square and Central Park for a hot minute. So, I’m really looking forward to spending more time in the city this time around. Also, I found the cutest airbnb and am praying that it’ll look like what it does in photos. Fingers crossed! While I’m really looking forward to this trip, I’m also a bit nervous because this is probably the only fashionable and warm coat that I own. #californiagirlproblems much? Looks like it’s time to shop for real winter clothing so I can brave the cold out there… let the retail therapy begin!
Do you have any recommendations on where to go and what to see in NYC? xx
