Just a little over a week ago, David and I had our first ever Airbnb experience together. For past travels, we’ve either just stayed at a hotel or crashed at a friend or family member’s house. We had such a great time, and expectations were more than met. At the last minute, we decided we wanted to go to NYC before the Palm Springs airport stopped doing direct flights to New York in the summer. Unfortunately, hotel prices were already going up. I didn’t want to settle for a mediocre or less-than-mediocre hotel, so I resorted to browsing through Airbnb listings. Best decision ever — since I was able to find the cutest little abode for our 4-night stay without breaking the bank!
This charming, Moroccan-style Airbnb is located in Brooklyn in the Bushwick area, within walking distance to plenty of bodegas, and fast food options (including DELICIOUS & AFFORDABLE ASIAN FOOD!), art murals, and public transportation. Luckily, we didn’t have to take much public transportation on this trip because my lovely friend Jenn of Jubilant Dose and her boyfriend took us around in their car most of the time (Jenn, if you’re reading this – THANK YOU <3)! But, we did take the subway into the city on one of the days we were there and the ride wasn’t bad at all.
Our host, Jonathan was lovely. Let me first say that he definitely has an eye for design and really knows how to make a dated, small place look so darn Insta-worthy! I mean, I couldn’t stop admiring all the little trinkets and plants he put together to make this such a memorable stay for his guests. It’s not often at all you come across any accommodation with a hammock to swing around in above the bed, or an adorable little book nook to relax in! While the weather was for the most part, pretty pleasant while we were in NYC, it did get cold for a couple of nights. I’m so thankful that he had space heaters and an extra blanket for us to use. The place was furnished well so we never had to bother him for anything. He was also flexible with check-in/check-out times depending on our flight itinerary, which I felt was a nice touch.
Throughout our entire stay, we felt so inspired to totally redecorate our house to look like this. I know we were on vacation and all… but is it bad that I just wanted to spend my entire days in this little apartment?! Jonathan, you did good. Our stay was too short! I can’t wait to be back.
Have you stayed at an Airbnb before? What was your experience like?
omg this is seriously the most charming airbnb i’ve ever seen!!! and i’ve stayed in a lot haha. so lucky that your first time was exceptional. and these photos are just the cutest 🙂 have a great weekend babe!
Right?! I think I seriously lucked out for my first stay! Definitely will be looking on Airbnb before hotels every time I travel now haha 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
Wow, fell in love with this place only from looking at the photos☺️🤗
I knowwww. I saw pictures on the Airbnb site and knew I’d love it here! Pictures don’t do the place justice too!
Ahhh such a cozy Airbnb! I totally agree with you on the decor – it’s amazing. Glad you had a fun stay in New York… will have to check this Airbnb’s availability when I visit next year!
Yes! New York was super fun and it even warmed up a couple days for us 😉 hehe xx
It’s cool that you got to stay in a cute Airbnb! It’s a great alternative when hotels are too expensive! Your host sounds like the best! Love how you were treated well and was accommodated however possible. I’ve stayed at Airbnb’s before but they were hit/misses. Thanks for sharing your experiences :).
Hi Nancy! Thanks for stopping by and reading 🙂 I totally agree that Airbnb’s are great alternatives when hotels are pricey. I was a bit skeptical at first because I was afraid that it might be a hit or miss. So thankful that my first experience went well and hopefully in the future won’t run into problems!
This place is so beautiful! I love AirBnB! Obsessed with your luggage too!
Thank you Julia, we really enjoyed our stay! Time flew by too quickly haha. I got a whole new luggage set from Steamline Luggage – they are the BEST!!!
This air bnb looks so pretty! I’ve stayed in an air bnb only once but it wasn’t as cool as this!
It is super charming, isn’t it? Ah, I hope that you’ll be able to stay in a nicer one soon! If you’re visiting NYC/Brooklyn area I definitely recommend this one xx
I have stayed in an Airbnb before. Aside from the roof leaking water the whole trip, I would much prefer it to a cramped hotel with no kitchen. Thanks for sharing your experience. I love your colorful expressive posts!
Oh no! I’m sorry that you had to deal with a roof with leaking water on your whole trip. That doesn’t sound like fun at all. Hopefully your next stay will be much more pleasant!
Your first Airbnb experience seems really cool! I love your honest thoughts and review. 🙂
I definitely couldn’t have asked for more. I look forward to experiencing more Airbnb’s in the future! Thanks darling – I’m glad you enjoyed reading xx
Omg what a lovely place!
Yes, indeed! I want to go back already!
I’ll have to try! What a great idea behind it!
Yes! Airbnb is definitely worth a try. I think I prefer it over hotels now after having a great first experience.
This place looks lovely! My husband and I will have to keep that in mind on our next trip.
I haven’t technically started in an airbnb but my mother-in-law has an apartment she rents out through airbnb in California — we’ve stayed there. Does that count? LOL
Ahhh I think you and your husband would love this one if you’re ever visiting New York City! Hahaha I would say that that counts! Hopefully her place was cozy and comfy too 😉
What a lovely Airbnb! I haven’t tried an airbnb just yet but I’m really interested in booking one the next time we travel. I love the way Jonathan decorated his space as well! it’s so cute! I’m hoping when I decide to book an Airbnb I have a good stay like you!
Ahhh I definitely recommend it! Jonathan has an impeccable eye for design for sure. I am hoping that future Airbnb’s I book will be nice like this one hehe
I just had my first Airbnb experience and it was nothing like this lol. That home is GORGEOUS. Hope you enjoyed every moment!!
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully your experience was still pleasant though. This place was small but definitely cozy and cute!
We use Airbnb at least once a year and I so wish all of the places were as adorable as this one!
Ahhh! I wish the same! Now I’ll probably have higher expectations for Airbnb just because I had a great first experience hahaha
What an amazing AirBnb!! I loveee using them. I do pretty much every time I travel! 🙂
I’m glad you’re a fan of Airbnb too!
I love Airbnb! I usually prefer them to hotels because it’s cheaper and it’s more homey. I just had my first bad experience this weekend where the host cancelled 🙁 but it was my fault because I booked it even though I had a bad feeling. Luckily I got a full refund and found another place that seems a lot better.
I totally agree with you girl, but I’m so sorry about your recent bad experience. I imagine it’d be a nightmare if the host cancelled at the last minute! AHHH! I hope you were able to find another decent place to stay darling!
I always stay at Airbnb’s when I travel but wow I have never seen anything like that interior! It seems like the perfect place for you so I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay!
I was really surprised to find this gem tucked away somewhere in NYC! I totally didn’t expect that haha
This is the cutest AirBnb ever!! Makes me want to redecorate my apartment. I’m glad you had a good first experience! AirBnB is really where I look to first when I travel!
RIGHT?! I want to redecorate my house now too LOL. This place totally gave me so much inspo!
I love Airbnb! It makes traveling so much easier. Looks like you guys lucked out and got a really chic place!
I think we really lucked out too! We’ll see what future Airbnb’s are like for us… hahaha
What a cute space and totally instagram worthy I see. These photos are so gorgeous and the space is beautiful. AirBNB is totally hit and miss to me but if you spend and really pay attention to reviews, it’s awesome. I always take train and walk in NYC. It’s the best part of being in the city to me since it’s a metropolitan place and you discover so many great places to eat wandering around. 🙂 This is such a cute spot. Brooklyn is convenient and great if you are near transit. I try to stay in Manhattan, but one of these days I’ll check this spot out.
I agree babe. Since it was my first time trying out Airbnb I was really careful to check reviews and made sure to read everything carefully LOL guess all that diligence paid off because this place was just amazing! Definitely more than what I could have asked for. I wish that this place was closer to Manhattan though but hey, I guess you can’t have it all! Next time, I’ll try looking for an Airbnb in Manhattan to stay in 🙂
Wow this place is so impressive and so cozy! I would love to stay in a place like this when I travel! I will have to check out Airbnb❤️
I know! I was pleasantly surprised haha 🙂 xx
Oh my gosh how amazing is that air bnb! I love all of the little trinkets that are all over the apartment. I’ll have to keep this in mind if ever go to NYC.
I know!! I was seriously obsessed with everything lol I wanted to take that apartment back home with me!
you really lucked out! my first experience was a 6th floor apartment in paris with no AC or elevator in 100 degree heat!
Omg that sounds like a disaster!!! I hope you were still able to enjoy Paris nonetheless. I haven’t been there yet!
How friggin cute is this Airbnb. Loving that hammock!
Right? I don’t remember seeing the hammock actually in the Airbnb photos, so that was a pleasant surprise!
This place is so freaking cute! LOVE! AirBnB is such a great concept!
Whitney of Whit Wanders
It really is! I’m so glad that someone was smart enough to come up with Airbnb 🙂
Wow, this is such a gorgeous Airbnb!! I am seriously obsessed with the decor!
cute & little
Me too LOL seriously inspo for our new house we’re moving into next month!
That place looks awesome! I love all the decor, and the hanging chair.
That’s my favorite part! I was so surprised to see the hammock there haha
What a gorgeous venue! I love the decor! I’ve yet to stay in an Airbnb – thanks for sharing your experience! I feel much better about booking one now!
Ahh I’m glad babe! I hope you also have a great first experience when you do book an Airbnb!
What a charming little house! I haven’t used Airbnb before but now I want to find a super cute place to stay too!
I definitely recommend Airbnb! Just make sure you take the time to read through reviews and check ratings 🙂
I’ve never tried Airbnb yet, but MAN, what a super cool place you found! I’m sure you just loved staying there.
It was definitely a little gem in Brooklyn! I do wish it was closer to Manhattan but it was cool seeing all the art murals in that neighborhood.
This AirBnB looks so inspiring! It’s truly beautiful. I think you got lucky to stay somewhere I like this! I’ve never stayed in one, but in NY I feel like that would be an excellent alternative to a hotel in order to save some funds and have the space you want while you’re on vacation! Love it!
Yes, I got really lucky! I had to share! Hahaha <3 I didn't expect to find an Airbnb like this in New York though because actually it looks more like something you'd find in Palm Springs LOL
this is seriously interior goals! I’m going to stay in my first air bnb apartment next month, it doesnt look as chic but we will see how the amenities are ;p
Oooohhh how exciting babe, I hope your first experience is as pleasant as mine was!
What a tropical Air bnb! I think I love the chess set the most 🙂
The chess set is sooo cute! My friend loved it hahaha
Well this place of his looks so amazing! I love his sense of style too! Great job Johnathon!!!
I love his sense of style too LOL. I would hire him to decorate my entire home if he didn’t live so far!
This place looks like a sanctuary.
I love the hammock design
Definitely a sanctuary! The hammock is definitely a darling addition.
what a lovely place! I love Airbnb!!

Yes! I’m glad you love Airbnb too 🙂
That place is gorgeous! I’ve used air b&b before but have never came across a pretty one like that.
Awww! I hope you will have the opportunity to stay at a pretty one soon! It’s such a memorable experience.
This place looks fantastic! I absolutely love the interior design and its rustic, vintage vibe. So cozy, and really cute decor all over the bedroom.

This place is seriously interior goals for sure! xx
Wow, that AirBnB looks pretty amazing! I need to find more gems like that one for sure!
I think I really lucked out with this one! Haha I’ll probably be disappointed with my next Airbnb if it doesn’t at least match this one >_<
What a cute place! And I LOVE that hammock! What a great accommodation experience!
Thank you Delia! It was so much fun staying here!
No way, I want to stay in this place!!! it’s amazing!!!
Haha yes!! It’s super cute!
I’ve never seen an AirBnB like this! Definitely encourages me to give them another shot. Thanks for sharing your experience, honey!
Yayyy! I’m glad that you’re encouraged to give Airbnb another shot. I can’t wait to book my next one!
I have never stayed in an Airbnb but this place is so cool! The bedroom reminds me of a Yurt! 🙂

Hahaha! I’ve never stayed in a Yurt! But I’ll take your word for it haha!
This is a beautiful Airbnb and you were so lucky you found this place! And thats so cool you got to hang out with Jenn 🙂 I feel like Airbnbs are a hit or miss sometimes but I should really try using it next time I travel!
Thanks Samantha! I hope to meet and hang out with you one day too 🙂
