When it comes to my everyday wardrobe, I’m usually more inclined to buy & wear more minimalistic, single-coloured items. I especially have a bunch of greys, blacks, whites, beiges, and dark blues in my closet. However, in the summer, I like to add a splash of colour to complement the bright sun. While it was super hot out when these photos were taken, I was blessed enough to catch a glimpse of the San Diego sun before a storm hit!
I am madly IN LOVE with this halter floral print romper from Lulu*s. Purple is my favourite colour, and I love that this romper is predominately that! I paired it with my khaki/olive green wedges from Call It Spring and a polka dot clutch from my cousin’s bag line, bo/bo bohemian bourgeois!
The wedges are great because it not only adds height and definition to the legs, it also is simple enough to even out the detail of florals in the romper dress. I tend to like to go simple on my shoes if the outfit looks busier.
Just when I thought my obsession with this romper dress ended at the front view! This open back makes me speechless. Excuse my awkward bikini tan lines, but this not only feels SO comfortable on a hot day, it shows just the right amount of skin without looking skanky. Those who know me know that I don’t like to wear clothes that are too revealing. My ideal is to always dress with elegance and class, and this dress is that, plus a bit of cute and fun too. 🙂
Because it is an open back dress that isn’t solid coloured (and thus hides the nipples well enough), I didn’t wear a bra (felt so liberating in the extreme heat!)… but this dress can also be worn with a sticky bra.
This clutch adds beautiful gold accents that complement perfectly with my gold bracelets, rings, and Burberry watch. I also love that the teal blue zipper part of the clutch matches well with the different hues of blue in the romper… and my nail colour, coincidentally!
On a hot and sunny day, sunglasses are a must! I chose my AJ Morgan pair of sunglasses (purchased from Lulu*s) to wear with this outfit because the black matches the lacey fringes, and the round & thick frames add a playful feel.
Having a photographer boyfriend means not only getting great photos, but also being adventurous and exploring new shooting locations! We were able to capture this outfit in so many different locations within football-field distance all within just an hour, and it is amazing how the varying locations make the outfit exude different vibes. Gotta love those clean lines and exquisite architecture! 😀
We thought it would be cool to shoot this outfit against some clean, concrete backgrounds to draw the eyes to the colours and details of the romper, without using just a plain white wall. And, while we were at it, we made great use of the surrounding props! The yellow fire hydrant adds a nice pop of colour, yet an everyday street feel to the photo, while the off-white wall with rocks and holes in vertical lines adds just enough special texture to the photo without being too distracting or taking away from the details of the outfit.
