In April, I wrote a blog post recapping my first year living in Palm Springs. I also did an “ask me anything” on Instagram stories not too long ago, and it seems like many of you are intrigued by what my life is like out here in the desert. So, I’ve decided to start a new “Palm Springs” category under “Lifestyle,” where I’ll be sharing fun tidbits about Palm Springs living you won’t want to miss out on! If you are planning to visit Palm Springs or simply curious about what my life is like here, visit this category often for updates 🙂 Since a few of you asked about hotels in the area, I’m starting this series with 10 photogenic hotels in Greater Palm Springs that are worth checking out – or potentially staying at, if you’re in town for more than just a day!
With temperatures soaring to 120 degrees in Palm Springs, the retro dolphin shorts trend from the 80’s has definitely made a comeback in my closet. I remember wearing these shorts often growing up – they were easy to wear, comfortable, and ideal for both lounging around at home and casually running errands outside. Those of you who know me may know that I have a hard time turning down short-shorts & short skirts, because of how extra long and slim they make my legs look! Even for a relatively tall Asian girl, I’ll happily take all the height I can get. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?
Originally a hit in Korea, lip tints have become widespread and popular in the United States over the years – for a multitude reasons. In my younger years of wearing makeup, I loved traditional lip gloss – no matter how sticky it was. Somehow, I was just obsessed with how the gloss looked on my lips, as it gave a much fuller appearance. As I got older, I couldn’t be bothered by my hair getting stuck in the gloss or just feeling sticky all the time. Lipsticks are often drying to my lips, so I’ve always steered clear from those whenever possible. I also didn’t like how the color would often transfer onto my teeth. Once I was introduced to lip tints, my whole lip game changed!
Thrifting has become a favorite past-time for me and David the past couple of months. We are amazed at how fun and easy it is to style a living space with thrifted finds! I have been crushing on all things vintage lately, so we are always on the hunt for cool items that fit that bill when we shop at our local thrift stores. After moving into a house literally double the size of our last place, we started thrifting to fill bare walls and empty space quickly without breaking the bank. We moved from a 2 bed 2 bath (in our case, master bedroom and office) condo to a 3 bed 3 bath house… which means we actually have a guest room now!

Finding an esthetician I really love in our new neighborhood has honestly been a huge challenge for me. While I have tried a few in the area, I haven’t found one that I connect with on a personal level, and one that delivers quality services at reasonable prices. Not only do frequent facials add up quickly, sometimes the idea of having to brave the heat for a while in the car as I make my way to an esthetician deters me. First world problems for someone living in the desert… I know! With that said, I have been extra proactive with home care when it comes to my face and neck. As I approach my 30’s, it has become super important for me to take all the preventative measures I can to halt the aging process. This involves staying consistent with a solid routine, and using quality products. Today, I’ll be sharing more about Lionesse Gem Skin Care’s Morganite Collection, which has been a pivotal part of my home care routine at night, helping me achieve balance and a healthy glow!
After moving into our new house, David and I talked about buying bikes to get around locally because our community is extremely beautiful and bike-friendly. We spent plenty of time shopping around and even buying bikes we ended up not happy with. It was so hard for me to choose one because I saw many pretty ones online that were Insta-worthy but when it came time to actually riding them, most were quite off in terms of practicality. Ultimately, I wanted a cruiser that was not only cute for photos, but also practical. At the end of the day, that’s what a bike is for, right? It’s supposed to take you around where you need to go, with ease!
If there’s one beauty brand that I’ve been loyal to since my early make-up days, it’s Chanel. Well, to be fair, you can’t go wrong with Chanel anything… but their beauty products have definitely remained consistently exceptional over the years. Last week, I had to make a Nordstrom trip to replenish part of my collection, and thought I’d share my recent Chanel beauty empties that I obviously love and swear by! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have trouble throwing away empty bottles that are pretty. After I took my flatlay, my boyfriend had to ask me, “are these just empty bottles?!” Haha. I’m convinced that I’ll collect all my Chanel empties and make my own little art piece with them someday… not a terrible idea, right?

Growing up, I’ve always been a fan of Asian beauty products. I recently discovered Japanese brand, Dermarise, available at Tohomart. Dermarise has been developed & sold in Japan in high-end salons for more than 10 years, and is well-acclaimed by celebrities today. Lately, I’ve been loving their Cyclic Serum P.A. & Cyclic Cream c-PA. A quality serum and moisturizer are two staples my skin care routine cannot live without! Though I’ve tried many serums and moisturizers in my lifetime, these definitely stand at the top of my ‘favorites’ list.
Who’s excited for the pool parties, BBQ picnics, and other 4th of July festivities next week? I know I am! You guys know that I love dressing up for occasions like this, so I thought I’d pop in on the blog to share some fun outfit ideas for Independence Day, in case you’re still shopping around.

If you’ve been following along on my Instagram stories for the past month or so, you’ll have seen that we’ve been working hard on decorating our rustic-vintage guest bedroom (inspired by the Airbnb we stayed at in New York recently). We’ve been doing plenty of local thrifting to score unique finds, but ultimately, I think my Steamline Luggage completes the vintage vibe of the room. Who doesn’t love luggage that’s not only visually appealing, but also fun to take along on trips? David & I had our 4 year anniversary last week, but we’ll be celebrating later this month somewhere cooler to escape this desert heat. Cannot wait to travel in style with my new babies!

C. Joybell C. once said, “you’re never fully dressed without perfume.” A good one, that is. I’ve always resonated with this quote because I believe that the perfume a woman wears speaks volumes about her personality! Today, I wanted to share with you a spring/summer fragrance that I’ve been loving lately. It’s the flower of the future, better known as Mugler’s Alien Flora Futura. It’s a relatively new one that became available in April of this year. Personally, I’m an avid lover of perfumes with floral notes, but I also appreciate ones with just the right amount of zest. Alien Flora Futura is just that and more — and I’m so excited to get into the details!
