Hope everyone is having an amazing week so far! I just wanted to share a photo diary of my winter road trip so far! We started our trip driving from LA back to the Bay Area to see my parents for two days, and then spent a day in San Francisco with my cousins.
I rarely go back to NorCal ever since my brother bought a house in SoCal, because my parents just prefer to come down to visit us instead. So, it was a really refreshing trip! It was also my first time checking out my cousin’s cute little house in Eureka Valley. His place was so photo-worthy (awesome natural light thanks to big windows), I couldn’t resist taking some polaroids while I was there 😉 We had so much fun — I wish we could have stayed longer!
We left on Sunday morning heading toward Salt Lake City, and was hoping to get there a little after dinner time, but ended up having to take an unexpected stop overnight in Reno, Nevada. There was a lot of snow and we just didn’t want to risk driving in heavy snow at night (plus, we wanted to appreciate the view to Utah during the day)! We spent most of the day driving through Donner Summit/Pass.
Since we got to Reno pretty late, we didn’t get to explore too much outside, but it was extremely cold and snowy. Though I’ve been to Reno many times with my family as a kid, it felt so different going as an adult. We stayed at Harrah’s for the night but did not gamble. 😛 We did eat at a buffet with decent food, though… and then pretty much called it a night.
Yesterday morning, we got up early and started driving from Nevada to Utah. The bathroom breaks were brutal, with heavy winds and snow covering the ground. It’s definitely a new experience for a California girl like myself!
Now, we’re finally in Salt Lake City. The snow here is definitely new to me (I swear, it’s like I’ve only seen this kind of thick snow in movies… how exciting)! Scheduling wise, everything has been pretty tight so far and we even got a ticket for speeding -___- On the bright side, the drive hasn’t been so bad and I’m seeing so many new places for the first time. We’ll be here for another day and then will head on over to Boulder, Colorado to see a friend of ours! I’m hoping to share more of my travels with you next week when I have reliable Internet connection! Until next time… xo
