This past weekend, I officially finished 12 weeks of BBG for the 2019 SWEAT Challenge! Being a naturally skinny but sedentary person just about all of my adult life, I am honestly amazed that I stuck to this rigorous fitness challenge. Even with the road bumps along the way, I managed to push through. I was NOT fit but did not miss a single workout, and stayed on track each week! More than ever before, I appreciate my health everyday. For me, this journey hasn’t been just about getting more fit, but also building a stronger relationship with my body. It is truly incredible what our bodies can do when we set our minds to something!
While I did not follow Kayla’s meal plan as outlined in the SWEAT app, I did eat pretty clean during this challenge and will continue to. As mentioned in past blog posts, I love her sister Leah Itsines’ recipes that are both nutritious and tasty! I committed to cutting out junk food and nourishing my body with whole grains, fresh fruits & vegetables, and lean meats. As far as beverages go, I only drink water and occasionally non-caffeinated tea to aid digestion when needed.
The changes are quite subtle and not noticeable from day to day, but they’re definitely there in progress photos. I gained 5 pounds, which is a lot for my little body! Lucky for me, it looks like it was 5 pounds in muscle 😉 My mid-section is leaner and more defined, legs have built up good endurance… but I think the most noticeable difference is in my arms. I’ve always had really weak arms and still do, but they’re getting stronger! Above all, I feel great about making more healthful choices and being active everyday, whether it be resistance training or a 30-minute walk. Beyond grateful for the SWEAT team & community for being so encouraging and making this an easy-to-keep lifestyle that I look forward to everyday.
Upon finishing BBG, I’ve begun Week 1 of BBG Stronger. I’m so excited to start incorporating more weights into my routine! I crushed the arms & abs resistance session today and absolutely LOVED it!!! So much I had to take a selfie afterwards, dripping in sweat and with no make-up on.
Have you tried BBG Stronger? Would love to hear about your experience!
