It’s that time of year again – festival season is upon us! While I won’t be attending any this year, I know how essential it is to have a variety of sunglasses on hand. The blaring sun is no joke out in the desert, and even when it’s cloudy out, I feel the need to wear sunnies to protect my eyes. If you’re still putting your festival outfits together in time for Coachella or Stagecoach, don’t forget to add a few of these trendy spectacles for elevated style and of course, sun protection.
The cat-eye trend has definitely been making rounds on social media, especially the smaller framed ones. I recently jumped the bandwagon myself and got a pair of black semi-triangular retro cat-eye sunglasses. They looked super chic on the model but sadly I couldn’t say the same about them on myself. I don’t really like how these ones frame my face, but I have seen many others pull it off flawlessly. Personally, I LOVE the cat-eye trend but need larger frames to suit my face. It’s all about finding the right fit!
My parents never really understood why I always picked out oversized sunnies growing up. They would always say that they are too big for me, and hide too much of my face. But, I found them to be super stylish! After years of experimenting with fashion, my opinion remains unchanged. I feel like you can just never go wrong with oversized sunnies. This is especially the case for me on days I don’t want to wear much or any face makeup. Just throw on a pair of oversized sunnies and nobody will know!
The heart-shaped sunnies have also been hot on the Internet these days. Honestly, I found them to be a bit out there and even a little obnoxious at first. Then, it grew on me and I got myself a pair of white ones. This pair has been a HIT in Palm Springs — surprisingly, I get an overwhelming amount of compliments on them! All that ego-boosting has got me wondering if I should also buy one in red, black, pink… and every color in the rainbow.
My first ever embellished sunglasses were by Miu Miu and I lost them on one of my moves a couple years ago. To this day, it bums me out because they were the cutest! I always felt so fancy wearing them. I haven’t replaced these yet but have purchased some fast-fashion pieces that are similar. This way, when and if I lose them again, it’s not as bad of a heartbreak. Anyone else clumsy like me and lose their sunglasses?! It’s terrible!
Aviators can be tricky because there are so many different sizes out there. However, I feel that once you’ve found one that frames your face properly, you’re golden. The great thing about classic aviators is they are super easy to match with everyday outfits. I wear my aviators the most because they are comfortable & easy to put on regardless of where I’m headed. On hikes or any outdoor adventure, aviators are lightweight and I never have to worry about getting a headache from wearing sunnies too long.
