Last weekend, we drove back to the Bay Area to celebrate Christmas early since it was the only time our entire family could get together. David and I totally forgot how cold it actually gets up there this time of year. So, we stopped by a mall on our way to my parents’ place and ended up buying new sweaters to stay warm! I guess it was a win-win situation because in the end, I really fell in love with this knit cardigan I scored for 50% off at Abercrombie & Fitch. Originally for $70, I got it for only $35! It’s super warm and cozy; I almost want to go back and get one in every color. The thing I love most about this one is that it has the chunky knit feel, but isn’t too heavy.
In case you couldn’t already tell, I recently developed an obsession for chunky knits. During Black Friday weekend, I bought this gorgeous lavender-grey chunky knit scarf from Creations by Kristel. Even though she specializes in making jewelry, this scarf of hers really caught my eye. I knew it had to be mine! To further feed my chunky knit obsession, I’m having her make me a chunky knit blanket too! So excited 🙂
Under the knit cardi, I’m wearing a simple grey long sleeve shirt from Old Navy (similar here) that I’ve had in my closet for years. The great thing about basics is that they never go out of style! Even when it’s freezing out, I always prefer to wear shorts and skirts over pants. Luckily, my legs don’t get cold too easily as long as my upper body is warm. This mini (similar here) has definitely been worn on repeat since I got it. On really cold days, I’ll even make it work with tights underneath.
I was casually browsing denim skirts on Poshmark out of boredom and came across this Abercrombie & Fitch one. It was in my size and better yet, new with tags! The previous owner apparently bought it for her daughter several years ago but it was too small. I usually don’t like purchasing things second-hand, but thrifting can be fun if it’s for something that isn’t available in stores. It’s even better when the item is new!
While in NorCal, we also went to visit my cousin Angie, who graciously gifted to me my first pair of reflective sunglasses. The best gifts are the ones that you would be open to having, but wouldn’t personally buy for yourself. I used to always shy away from these kinds of sunnies because they looked a bit “too much”… but now I sort of like them! What do you think?
On another note, this weekend will be our first Christmas with Babadook since we are staying in town! We are planning to put a Santa hat on him and take some silly family photos 😉 Stay tuned x
What are your Christmas weekend plans?
