If you live for comfort and style like I do, an oversized chambray shirt is a wardrobe essential. In fact… I can’t say no to anything chambray. My closet is filled with chambray dresses and tops because they help me look put together even on days when I don’t feel like getting dressed. Recently, I have learned that when styled correctly, oversized chambray shirts can be extremely flattering. As a gal with a smaller framed body, I have to get a little creative with styling them.
Not long ago, I came across this chambray shirt with the perfect shade and distressing at American Eagle. I’m normally an XXS, but this one was an XS (last one on the rack, too!) and was slightly too big on me. Yes, it’s possible to go “too big” even when you’re going for the oversized look! It’s one thing when a shirt is oversized, and another when it looks like it came straight from my boyfriend’s closet. At the end of the day, I loved everything about this top so much that I had to get it, even though the size was a bit off. The distressing was in all the right places and gave more of an edgy feel, which I loved! I knew I could easily wear it with just about anything in my closet, ranging from spring dresses to a basic top and skirt or even jeans.
When I got home, I started exploring all the different ways I could style this beauty. After playing around with it for a while, I decided to knot the bottoms of both sides in front to cinch the top for a tighter fit, while making it slightly shorter so that it wouldn’t steal the show of the beautiful floral details on my dress. Since I’m all about the effortless vibes, I like rolling up the sleeves some when wearing chambray shirts.
I was recently in the market for some new running shoes, and Rack Room Shoes had a sale going on — buy one get one half off! In addition to my new Nikes, I totally took this opportunity to finally get a pair of Adidas which I had been wanting for years. While heels are my go-to, I do enjoy the sporty-chic look every now and then. Instead of wearing this green floral spring dress with my typical nude heels, I decided to take the edgy route! Say hello to my brand new Adidas… oh, and my cool reflective sunnies 🙂
