This December, I’ll be road tripping to the East Coast with Potter for the very first time! It will be my first time spending the holidays away from home, but I am super excited to be seeing a bunch of new places all at once. It’s definitely going to be heavenly for us since we love to take advantage of amazing scenery when taking photos. Since I am a total California babe, I’ll admit I am super spoiled with great weather all the time (yes, even when it gets as low as 45 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter)… so I can’t imagine what it will be like to experience even colder weather! I’m a little nervous about getting sick on the trip or not bringing the right clothes… so any tips & pointers would be greatly appreciated…
With this transitionary moving time, it’s a bit stressful to be thinking about all this at once, but I’m definitely setting aside some time to plan for what I’ll be bringing with me on this road trip.
WARM ACCESSORIES (HATS, GLOVES, SCARVES, LEG WARMERS & EAR MUFFS)
COZY SWEATERS & BLANKET PONCHOS
Time to pull out those cable knit sweaters! Lately, I’ve also been really loving blanket ponchos. I just placed an order online from American Eagle & cannot wait to get it in the mail! Christmas will be a lot earlier for me this year 😉
I don’t own too many long-sleeve shirts because… well, I always get away with just wearing a t-shirt under my jacket or sweater in the winter here in California. I’m thinking of getting a few thermal tops to layer underneath my outerwear to stay bundled up on this trip, though.
THICK COATS & SHERPA JACKETS
These will take up most of my luggage space, but are definitely musts in super cold weather! I can’t wait to finally wear my sherpa vest that I got a few months ago on sale for a super deal at TJ Maxx… 🙂
I’ve never been into snow jackets because they are so bulky and make me look… well, thick, but I know it will be much needed during this trip. It’ll definitely be practicality & comfort over style in this department… unless any of you know where to get stylish snow jackets?
COMFY FLEECE LEGGINGS
Jeans worn alone aren’t the most warming, and actually, during wintertime in California, if it gets super cold, I like to layer a pair of cozy fleece leggings under a looser-fitted pair of jeans to stay comfortably warm.
PRACTICAL (& STYLISH) FOOTWEAR
Furry boots, rain boots, sneakers… and maybe my favourite pair of heel boots and regular booties. I’m debating whether I can get away with just wearing rain boots in snowy conditions… snow boots aren’t so appealing and I don’t see myself wearing them ever again after returning to California.
East Coast readers: Are there any other pieces you’d recommend I bring to my trip to stay warm & cozy?
