With temperatures soaring to 120 degrees in Palm Springs, the retro dolphin shorts trend from the 80’s has definitely made a comeback in my closet. I remember wearing these shorts often growing up – they were easy to wear, comfortable, and ideal for both lounging around at home and casually running errands outside. Those of you who know me may know that I have a hard time turning down short-shorts & short skirts, because of how extra long and slim they make my legs look! Even for a relatively tall Asian girl, I’ll happily take all the height I can get. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?
These dolphin shorts were only $13 at H&M and I already want to go back and get one in every color. I’ve worn these to death because they’re so easy to throw on and looks decent with just about any summer top. Hot & humid weather means no bra and a halter top! My vintage-style knit crop top was from Forever 21 and I love how it really exudes the retro vibes when paired with the dolphin shorts. Even keeping it cool with my outfit choice, I’m still sweating hard core. Those who tell me, “at least the desert heat is dry heat,” can stop saying that because it’s been hell lately with the humidity. I normally don’t sweat easily, but these days I sweat like a water fountain the minute I get out of the house! This says a lot, guys and gals…
We were literally out for 10 minutes tops shooting this look early in the morning at around 8 AM. It was already like 103 degrees. Want that natural “dewy glow?” Try living in the Coachella Valley where it never gets below 100 degrees even in the middle of the night, and reaches 120+ during the day in the summer months! It doesn’t help that it’s extra humid this summer, so it feels even hotter than last – despite the higher temperatures last year. Personally, I hate the dewy look – I use matte foundation and a $h!t ton of powder so that I’m matte for as long as I can before I inevitably create that unintentionally “dewy look” that you all love (lol). There you have it – the secret behind my constant dewy glow that everyone asks about! 😉
What do you think of the dolphin shorts trend? Would you wear it?
