Caught in the Midst of a Desert Storm

IMG_6110_1600

Last week, temperatures finally dropped below 100 degrees and we were confronted with a desert storm! We rarely get cloudy days out here, so naturally, David and I were pretty excited about it. Don’t get me wrong – I am totally a sunshine kinda’ gal, but a change of scenery is refreshing every once in a while. Plus, clouds can really make photos look more dramatic and interesting! We decided to drive out to Salton Sea to watch the sunset and it was a very beautiful night. There was even some thunder & lightning.

My dress is from Verychi, a European clothing line. I’m generally not a huge fan of midi dresses because they’re not always the most flattering, but this one definitely grew on me. I got this number in an XS and with the tie-around belt, it fits perfectly. Made with 100% lyocell fabric and the cutest little buttons, it’s such a great transitional summer-to-fall piece. When it gets cooler, I’ll be accessorizing this dress more with hats, outerwear pieces, and boots. Until then, I’m holding onto summer for as long as I can… especially now that it’s very bearable and comfortable out. Fall in the desert is oh-so pleasant – I love it!

Have you been feeling the change of seasons where you’re at these days?

    1. Lol! We rarely get storms and when we do it’s exciting because the sky always looks so dramatic! Definitely a change from clear blue skies on most days here.

    1. Thank you Jessie! Yes, I’m lucky that Palm Springs doesn’t actually have a real winter hahaha even in December the average is like 70 degrees! Fall is perfect here (minus the shorter days haha)

  1. Your dress is super cute and I love the pop of color! The weather is just so cold now and bright colors make me happy!

    1. Thank you Christine! I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying the change of weather too. It’s so nice to be able to walk my dogs later in the mornings without dying in the heat lol! I totally got this dress in the summer but didn’t get around to shooting it until now. It still works 😉

  2. Girl you need to give me your photo editing tips because that sky is AMAZING! These photos are seriously incredible babe!!! Love the yellow number on you too!

    1. You’re amazing at what you do, Helen! Haha I don’t think you need tips from me 😉 we have been trying to shoot either around sunrise or sunset because the lighting works in our favor really nicely! That helps a lot 🙂 Thanks beautiful xoxo

  3. We are still kind of waiting for the season s to change over here in Houston, but getting some stormy weather in the interim I guess!! This yellow is mmmm-good on you! Love it– I think you pull the midi length off very well :-))

  4. First of all, such beautiful photos! And secondly, I wish it was actual fall in New York! Today is was 80 with 93% humidity. And we’re October 10th. HI global warming lolol

    1. Wow, 80 degrees sounds like pure bliss to me… but not 93% humidity. Holy moly! That sounds worse than the humidity in Asia! I hope that the weather will get better over there soon for ya 🙂

  5. That’s a really lovely dress…comfy yet elegant. You look good in it. By the way, like the photography & the background colours complement the ochre yellow of your dress well.

    1. Thank you girl! It was a beautiful night. It’s getting chillier over here during the mornings and nights but still in the 80’s and 90’s during the day. Not too much of a seasonal change but still a difference from the 100’s so I’m grateful haha!
