If you read my review on the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation a month or so ago, you’ll know that I have been exploring my options before settling on a new go-to foundation for winter! I was breaking out like crazy the first week of December, and this really challenged me to find the perfect one right away. I had multiple shoots that day and felt so bad for the photographer because I’m sure my skin was a huge nuisance to work with! I went into Ulta one day explaining & showing the sales associate my dilemma (two really large pimples below my cheek, super red from fresh acne scarring, plus some flaking). She alone couldn’t help me (that’s how bad it was), and got two other co-workers of hers to help assess my issue. Not only did they have trouble finding a good full-coverage foundation that would conceal my blemishes well, they also had trouble matching my skin tone! It took them a while, but I was finally paired up with the Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme in NUDE. This shade matched my skin tone on my face nearly perfectly, which means I don’t have to paint my entire face with it if I don’t want to; I can simply focus on spots that need help.
This Ultimate Coverage foundation, to my surprise, worked REALLY well in masking my blemishes. It’s really hard to find a truly great foundation that can cover deep and big marks. This one does the trick without having to cake on because the consistency is a lot thicker (more than a cream rather than a liquid, but classified as a liquid foundation). It’s great for winter because the cream consistency works well for those of you who tend to get dry skin during this time of year. A little bit really goes a long way. I don’t even bother using a concealer because this foundation works better than any concealer I’ve tried, and immediately brightens up the bottom of my eyes and the redness around my nose. I only pretty much use 1-2 full bottle pumps for my entire face and it’s good for the whole day.
This foundation is not matte (though they do have a matte option… at the time though, ultimate coverage was my priority), which would have made the foundation 100% perfect in my eyes… but I still really love it. I’m highly considering to try Becca’s matte one one day after I finish my new bottle of the ultimate coverage foundation. Anyway, with this said, I do top it off with a mattifying spray because I like the matte effect, but it still needs to be touched up during the day if I want it looking perfectly matte. I have a thing for matte skin and am still on the search for the perfect mattifying foundation on days I don’t necessarily need full-coverage foundation. However, since I stated using this foundation, I’ve been hooked and have not used anything else since!
For those of you who break out often or are looking for a foundation that masks scars, redness, or any skin discoloration well, this foundation is totally worth the try. It’s only around $44 for a bottle at Ulta (I think I saw that you can get it cheaper on Amazon, but I was in a rush and needed the foundation right away for my road trip), and it works wonders! The thick consistency does not cause any breakouts for me, and my skin, if anything, has been looking a lot better since I made the switch.
Have you tried any other Becca foundations? How do they measure up to your other foundations? Particularly, I’m interested in finding out whether their matte foundation is actually matte. If any if you have tried this one, please let me know how you like it! xx
