I am a huge fan of CHANEL & elf cosmetics make-up. I’m no make-up artist, but over the years, I’ve learned to at least be decent at it on my own face (my boyfriend is amazing at what he does in terms of photography & retouching, but I’d like to think I’m not too shabby at doing my own make-up).
The featured photo was taken late last year, which is why my hair colour is a lot lighter. After becoming an agency represented model, I was requested to go back to my natural hair colour. In any case, my daily make-up routine hasn’t changed too much. As a model, it’s always a plus to know how to do your own make-up for castings, gigs without a full crew, etc. Luckily, with YouTube tutorials and experimentation, it’s not too hard to get the basics down once you have the make-up! 😀
Here are my everyday must-have make-up essentials 🙂 Just a quick 15 minutes daily, and I’m out the door to start my day!Extra Virgin Coconut Oil | elf Mineral Infused Primer in CLEAR | elf Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation (as a concealer) in SAND | CHANEL Double Perfection Pressed Powder Foundation in 30 BEIGE (summer) or CHANEL Perfection Lumiére Liquid Foundation in 30 BEIGE (winter) | elf Glowing Bronzer | elf Baked Blush in PASSION PINK | elf High Definition Finishing Powder
I always moisturise my face first thing before applying any make-up. In the morning, I like to use extra virgin coconut oil because it is light, absorbs into the skin well, and has sun-protective properties. I then follow with primer. To cover blemishes and even out skin tone, I like to use elf’s liquid foundation as a concealer. I prefer this over concealers because I find that it has better coverage, especially around the dark circles. I finish off the rest of my face with CHANEL’s liquid foundation with SPF 15 in the cooler months (when I don’t get shiny easily) or CHANEL’s pressed powder foundation in the hotter months (this one is more mattifying, so it’s better for summer time). I like to add a little bit of a sunkissed look to my face with a bronzer so I don’t look too pale. If I need a bit more of a pop, I’ll put on some blush on top of the bronzer to give it a nice shine and colour. To keep the make-up in place the whole day, it’s important to set the make-up with finishing powder.
elf Studio Prisms Eyeshadow in NAKED | RIMMEL LONDON Glam’Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in BLACK | elf Volume Plumping Mascara in BLACK | RIMMEL LONDON Soft Kohl Pencil Liner in BROWN or BLACK | elf Full Eyebrow Kit in DARK
When applying my eye make-up, I have learned that applying eyeshadow first is best. Because sometimes it can flake off over the skin, it’s much easier to touch up/clean up when there’s no other eye make-up on yet. Once the eyeshadow is on the way I want it, I proceed to use black liquid eyeliner to give my eyes a pop. I am a fan of the wing-style. I don’t see too much of a difference across mascara brands, but I’ve experimented using RIMMEL, Covergirl, and Maybelline. Currently, I’m using one by elf. Not only are elf cosmetics affordable, they are great quality! For the bottom water line, I use pencil liner (either black or brown… usually depends on my mood, but I use brown more than I do black) by RIMMEL. As for eyebrows, I think it’s important to keep them groomed regularly. It’s much easier to apply the eyebrow make-up when they’re already shaped the way they should be! If I want my eyebrows to be darker, I go for the darker gel to colour in my brows. If I want the more natural look, I’ll go with the lighter brown powder.
I like to keep lips simple. Colour is nice sometimes, but my go-to look is usually my natural nude lip colour. I like to keep my lips moist using eos Lip Balm (currently still using their summer “flavor” / scent, summer fruit). My lips dry out really quickly when I wear lipstick for an extended period of time. 🙁 If I feel my lips need a little bit of colour, I’ll glide a coat of Baby Lips Lip Balm in pink punch to give a little more of a pink colour! I especially love these two lip products because not only are they moisturising, they are also light and not sticky like most glossy lip wear.
With these simple essentials, I’m able to do my everyday make-up look that isn’t too over the top, but looks well done! 🙂
