Back-To-School Style with American Eagle

September is not only the month that it starts to get cooler in time for fall; it’s also the month that many are returning back to school! Though my school days are long gone, I’ve teamed up with American Eagle to share with you a casual but chic back-to-school look. I had so much fun with this partnership because American Eagle is one of my favorite brands to wear for many occasions. Not only are their styles comfy and trendy, but they are also very affordable for students.

Still back-to-school shopping and not sure where to start? Read on to discover the 4 elements that make the perfect outfit – in and out of the classroom!

1. STYLE

Who doesn’t want to look cool at school? Lately, I’ve been really into studs and metal detailing. Something about these details makes me feel edgier and way cooler. This stunning zipper-front studded skirt from AEO‘s latest collection screams perfection! Since it is getting progressively cooler, I am wearing a simple and lightweight white long-sleeved top with lace and mini pleats, tucked under so that the gorgeous details of the skirt don’t go unnoticed.

2. COMFORT

The last thing you want to do is run around campus rushing from one class to another in uncomfortable clothes! Yikes! This means, lightweight and airy tops, and bottoms that aren’t too tight or restrictive. Since I’m not exactly the curviest person, I love the boho trend that incorporates loose clothing (without swallowing the body). Not only is this style really trendy these days, but it’s also very comfortable. American Eagle has great picks that never disappoint; I always walk out of the store with something new and fun in my hand!

As for shoes, I will admit — I wore flip-flops and sneakers a lot in college. Not going to lie… I wasn’t exactly the most fashionable person and one of my old roommates even didn’t recognize me anymore when I showed him my blog last week. LOL! Anyways, I still stand by comfy shoes, because the last thing you want to do is get home after a long day with painful feet!

To complete this back-to-school look, I’m wearing my go-to pair of sandals these days. If you’ve been following my blog and Instagram lately, you’ll know that these shoes have been worn on repeat. It’s also the perfect pair for students to walk around on campus because it’s super comfortable while giving just the right amount of height.

3. AFFORDABILITY

Because who has all the money in the world to splurge on expensive clothing when tuition and housing are making us broke?! Luckily, American Eagle offers stylish and high-quality clothing at reasonable prices. I particularly love their bottoms including skirts, shorts, and jeans, because they are so timeless! This skirt is no exception. It has a suede-like texture and feels ultra soft. The fact that AEO offers sizes for petite, regular, and tall people also helps a lot. I often take advantage of their size 00 that other stores may not offer… 😉

4. VERSATILITY

As a student, I always scoured for versatile finds (actually, I still do… and am proud of it!). Doing this allows me to mix and match clothing without having to constantly go shopping and buy new clothes just to style something else I already have. For example, I can make this skirt look super fashionable in more than one way, whether it be tucking in a white top or styling it with a tighter crop top! I also look forward to wearing it with over-the-knee boots this fall. In addition to shopping for bottoms, I also enjoy investing in basics from American Eagle because their tees are so soft and can be worn both in and out of the home. 🙂

Are any of you back to school this month? What are your must-have pieces for the new school year?

    1. Thank you, Thomas! American Eagle is the best for those exact reasons you’ve mentioned. I was far from adorable in college (more like massive nerd in sweats and flip flops and hair up in a bun) LOL. Hope you have a wonderful weekend <3 xoxo

  3. You are so stunning! And the location is just perfectly fitting for this kind of look. You look amazing in all things American Eagle! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Miranda! Appreciate the love <3 The Walt Disney Concert Hall in DTLA is a great place to shoot on Sunday mornings when there's free parking and little to no foot traffic 😉

  4. That skirt is to-die-for! Omg, talk about the perfect fall essential. Like you, I’m out of school and working but could totally see me wearing this into the office on Casual Fridays like today! Have a wonderful weekend <3

  8. Wow I would have never guessed that the skirt is from American Eagle! Looks great on you. Need to check it out soon. Wonder if they have it in store for me to try on?

    1. Thanks, Samantha! I haven’t seen it in store yet (at least not the one I went to a couple days ago)… it might be online only but I’d say the fit is true to size and you can always return it if it doesn’t fit! AE has a pretty good return policy 🙂

  9. Omg I die for that skirt! What size are you wearing? I want to order one but just wondering what the sizing for this skirt is like. Thanks!

    1. Hi Georgiana! Thanks for stopping by. The skirt is super cute, right?! I’m wearing a 00 (the smallest size they have) because I have a super tiny waist of 23″! It’s insane. Honestly, it’s a little big on me when I don’t tuck the top in (that helps hold the skirt up a tad). Also, I wanted the skirt more high-waisted to fit the 90’s vibes sorta, but if you’re okay with it sitting a bit lower then I think it’s pretty true to size! Hope this helps 🙂 xoxo

    1. This is true! Flexibility and versatility are both really important when I’m shopping for clothes. I always prefer a staple that goes well with a ton of other things! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend and thanks for stopping by, Bernice xoxo
