Photo Diary Part 7: Hoover Dam & Las Vegas

I can’t believe it’s almost been a month since we got back from our road trip. 2016 has been swell and flying by so far! Here is my final photo diary of the last bit of the trip, including Hoover Dam and Las Vegas.

The last time I went to Hoover Dam was probably in high school with my parents, and going to see it again was a completely different experience! Not sure if it’s because I’m finally old enough to appreciate nature, or if things have changed. Either way, it was completely stunning beyond words! I had no idea Hoover Dam was so beautiful. We spent a few hours here and were supposed to head back to San Diego to get ready for our move, but our move-in date got postponed two days, so we decided to extend our trip by making an overnight stop in Las Vegas… because why not? We were literally 30 minutes away and weren’t planning on going out that way again for a while anyway. So, we booked a last minute hotel and walked the strip, explored shops, watched the Bellagio water show, and ate surprisingly delicious ramen for dinner!

There are so many gorgeous lights at night in Vegas. It was definitely a good idea to make a stop here since we’re such home-bodies and rarely ever get out to explore the city of LA (even though we live here… lol). Overall, this trip was really enlightening, despite how it required us to get out of our comfort zone and socialize more than we usually do. Now that we’re back, we have barely left the house!

Hopefully, we’ll have the opportunity to travel to new places soon so I can share more photo diaries here xo

  1. The Hoover Dam is def a gorgeous stop!! They built the highway bridge that you look up to not too long ago, so that’s probably what has changed since you were last there as a kid! You used to have to cross the river on the road that crosses the dam (the one that you walked out on), but now they just use that as more of a tourist bridge. I think the highway bridge in the air is just so awesome. The whole place makes your stomach churn because it’s so vast!! The crazy thing I noticed was how low the water levels were in your photos 🙁 I think the last time I was there was a few years ago… and the water levels definitely look way lower when I was there 🙁 So sad. Glad you guys enjoyed a little impromptu visit to Vegas! It’s always fun to walk around and check things out there 🙂

    1. Thanks! I definitely enjoyed my brief visit to the Hoover Dam and was surprised at how beautiful it was… I guess because I didn’t remember it being that special as a kid. I wasn’t sure if there were changes in architecture or if I just didn’t have that type of appreciation when I was young and being lugged around traveling with my parents, lol!
