5 Simple Ways to Rock the Palazzo Pant Trend

_DSC4699-2

Palazzo pants have been popping up everywhere, and for good reason! While I initially thought this trend would look absurd on me, I am surprisingly obsessed with it now. When styled properly, palazzo pants can be super flattering and extremely comfy. This is a huge bonus especially for a desert dweller like myself. The temperatures are consistently going into the hundreds these days, which means light and airy bottoms are a must.

As a gal with a slender body frame, I was worried that palazzo pants would essentially “swallow” me. I have extremely thin legs and not much of a booty… which means that wearing baggy bottoms are usually risky. After years of searching, I still haven’t met a pair of mom jeans that I can pull off well! Contrarily, my luck has been better with palazzo pants. In fact, I scored not one, but two on my last shopping trip and was pleasantly delighted with the fit of both. Since it was my first time “trying the trend,” so to speak, I played dress-up for a bit when I got home. With some experimenting, I realized just how easy it is to style them in so many fun ways. With that said, I will definitely be adding more of these into my wardrobe this season and living in them when I’m not in maxi dresses.

Looking to try the palazzo pant trend this season? Get inspired by some of my favorite ways of making them look chic wherever I go!

Style With Swimwear or a Crop Top

Headed to the beach or somewhere tropical? A fun way to style palazzo pants is to pair ’em with swimwear or crop tops! This look will easily carry you from a morning tanning session at the beach to brunch, as you’ll want to somewhat “cover-up” without totally hiding your entire outfit. Show off that cute bikini top or wear a crop top with palazzo pants for a meal or stroll around town. Another big plus – it’s harder to detect a food baby when you’re wearing these!

Go High-Waisted

Be sure to go with a high-waisted silhouette to emphasize the illusion of length. Wide-legged pants are well-loved for the comfort and breathing room they give, but a big disadvantage is that they can also make legs appear much shorter. This is especially so when they don’t come with vertical stripes. Your best bet is to get a pair that sits right above your hips and cinches your waist for a slimming effect. It’ll also do a fair job concealing a food baby while on vacation. You’re welcome.

Tuck In a Fitted Shirt

Since palazzo pants are baggy by nature, it only makes sense to pair them with a fitted shirt. This will help create balance in your outfit and accentuate your figure. If you’re going to go modest with your legs, you might as well show off what you’ve got up top! Don’t be shy, girl. Whatever you do, avoid loose tees, oversized cardigans, and boxy sweaters.

Opt for Shoes with Height

Just like maxis, palazzo pants look amazing with wedges and high heels. Not only will these solemates keep your pants from dragging on the floor, they will also elongate your body even more. Personally, I love wearing platform wedges because they’re pretty hidden under the pants and provide ample comfort and all-day wearability. By this, I mean: I was able to walk miles all day long in this outfit around NYC without any pain!

Layer with a Cropped Jacket

If you must wear a jacket on chillier days, consider layering with a cropped jacket. This could be a denim, knit, or leather jacket — but whatever it is, the shorter the better. Keep in mind that longer tops will create a sloppy, swallowing effect and take away from the elegance that your palazzo pants have to offer. Show off your beautiful frame while staying cozy!

And there you have it – 5 easy ways to make palazzo pants look stylish for any occasion 🙂

  6. I love these tips and these palazzo pants look awesome on you! I have always preferred wearing wide leg trousers – more so than skinny jeans/pants but packing-wise, less material for skinny, so they always win lol. Like you suggested, wearing then with heels is so nice because they add extra height and because they often cover my shoes, i look taller hahaha.
