Last week, my friends and I took a quick day trip out to Santa Barbara. There’s something about the charm there that instantly puts me in such a delightful mood! We were able to walk around and explore State Street, admire the beautiful architecture of their city hall, and watch ducks and turtles swim at a local park. It was definitely a relaxing day, and the perfect way to take a break from work. I wish we could have stayed longer, but my boyfriend had to get back for a gig that night. It was a warm day, so I kept things light by wearing my favorite off-the-shoulder top and denim skirt ensemble from Free People.
There are so many cute Free People finds at Nordstrom these days just in time for the new school year. I wish I had a fashion sense back in the day when I was in school, but I actually didn’t really explore my passion for fashion until after I graduated college. In fact, I came across an old photo of me freshman year of college and I was wearing sweat pants and what looked like a pajama tank out in upscale La Jolla! I cringed and couldn’t believe my own eyes. Oh, how things have changed over the years! I’m just glad that I am able to do what I love now and share with you my severely-upgraded sense of style. 😉
As for accessories, I also kept things pretty simple. When it’s hot out, I don’t like to wear too much — jewelry included. I knew we would be walking around quite a bit so I opted for my sandal-wedges from Seychelles Footwear. It happened to match the blue denim skirt perfectly! This simple Free People look not only allowed me to explore in style, it also kept me cool all day long.
Have you taken a fun day trip lately? Where did you go?
