The Everyday Guide for Effortless Style in Under 10 Minutes

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

There’s nothing more dreadful than waking up early in the morning and having no idea what to wear. For me, comfort is key. At the same time though, I like to maintain a level of style and sophistication without overdoing it. Want to look put together without spending too much time thinking about your outfit? You’re in luck! I’ve gathered the most useful tips and tactics that have helped me exude effortless style in under 10 minutes. Try them for yourself and walk out of the house looking stylish every time, without really trying!

EASY ON THE MAKEUP & HAIR

I couldn’t do without my “everyday no makeup makeup look,” which typically consists of foundation, subtle highlight, lip balm, lightly touched up brows, a neutral eyeshadow, and some mascara. On days I am too lazy to add waves into my hair, I like to tie it up in a low bun and let some of the shorter layers in front loose, to frame my face. Very effortless, yet elegant!

STICK WITH THE BASICS

The key to looking effortlessly chic is to have enough basics in the closet that can be worn on rotation. For starters, you can never go wrong with leggings, a classic pair of Nikes, and a simple top. A pair of ripped leggings is a great substitute for ripped jeans — they are much more breathable and easier to move in. They add an edgy touch to the look, too. Sneakers are easy to walk in, and pretty much fail-safe. No matter where I am headed — like brunch or errands, I can count on being comfortable and stylish in them.

LIGHT ON THE ACCESSORIES

There’s no need to go overboard with accessories, but some wouldn’t hurt. In winter, I love wearing hats. I’m usually not a huge jewelry person but sometimes I’ll adorn my look with my favorite rings or a simple go-to necklace.

BE MINDFUL OF PROPORTIONS

When it comes to tops, I tend to prefer cropped, loose-fitted items that allow me to get away with not wearing a bra. I mean, no effortless look is complete without letting my girls breathe, right? Haha! At the same time, it’s important to make sure that the top doesn’t “swallow” the body. This is especially the case if you have a smaller-framed body or are petite. If a tee is too long, for example, you may want to tie a knot or tuck it in so that the outfit appears less sloppy. In my book, high-waisted pants are always a good idea as they do a good job lengthening the legs!

DON’T FORGET THE STATEMENT PIECE

Adding a statement piece is a fun way to spice up any outfit without putting in too much effort. Weather permitting, I enjoy layering on a leather jacket, blazer, or casual coat. Not so much of a sneaker kind of gal? Perhaps you may fancy wearing booties instead. Upgrading at least one piece in your outfit can make you go from looking lazy to put-together instantly!
