Wanderlust State of Mind

Snapseed 33

You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit MIA here on the blog in the past week or so. Today, I am excited to share that Style Lullaby has an all new look! While working hard behind the scenes to make this face lift come to life, David & I have also been diligently creating a lot of new content. I can hardly wait to share it with you!

Lately, I’ve been feeling inspired to travel more. As a homebody who finds the greatest comfort at home with my partner-in-crime, fur babies, reptilian children, and Cal King bed, I don’t know how to feel about it. On a related note, we are shifting towards a “wanderlust” style of photography by shooting in open horizons and utilizing interesting locations as the background.

I decided to clear some clutter here on the blog and did some post purging. Looking through older posts made me cringe; how on earth did I find shooting against the same colored wall inspiring at all? Things have definitely evolved for the better over time. I am particularly happy with how this set of photos turned out. It’s been quite windy in Palm Springs lately but I love it when the wind works in our favor! This was one of those days. There was just the right amount of movement in my wide-legged jumpsuit.

Wanderlust (n): A strong desire or urge to wander or travel & explore the world.

It’s so easy to get bogged down by work and spend our lives working as the days pass. I’m getting to a point in my life where I feel like I need to take a chill pill sometimes and remember to make a life… outside of just non-stop work, work, work. For an overachiever & workaholic like me though, it can be a challenge. Doing what I love for a living fuels my life, but I am working on finding that necessary balance and stressing less.

Side note – Can you believe that this entire outfit was from Target? I am seriously finding ways to make simple-looking pieces look more put-together with limited shopping options out here in the desert.

David and I are making a special trip out to San Diego just to shop for our upcoming trip to NYC next month. I am pretty ecstatic as I haven’t done real shopping in a long time. Since it’s already starting to warm up here, we’re really hoping to score some good deals on winter styles to keep us warm in New York!

As much as I love my desert locales, I cannot wait for a change of scenery. It’s been a while since we’ve seen skyscrapers, tall buildings, and gritty neighborhoods with a unique city charm. I don’t miss living in the city, but visiting is always refreshing. I’m particularly looking forward to shooting in busy streets and cute cafes again, and pigging out on DELICIOUS Asian food that we’re lacking out here. Hopefully, this trip will open up more opportunities for future travel. 🙂

Are you itching for a new adventure? What’s your next destination?
